Batam Fun!

yoZ!
ZzzZzz...so sleepy! Haha...yah..went to Batam for a one-day trip with school and enjoyed myself very very much. There's so much things different between Batam and Singapore.. suddenly felt that I'm really fortunate living here!!!
Kkz...the first place we went to is the Vietnam refugee camp. The place looked quite 'cool' with a lot of factilities like youth center, church, temple etc. From our tour guide Eric, we also found out that the Vietnamanese living there were the 1st group of people to have water pipes in the whole country of Indonesia and they don't work as the UN will provide a monthly sum of money to them. Surprisely, they don't enjoyed life. Before entering the area, Eric warned us not to talk 'rubbish' because the Vietnamanese suffered humilation, rape, tortures etc. They even have a prison specially for the Vietnamanese. Many of them burnt themsleve to death or commited sucides at the camp. Sigh..the bad thing about living under people.
Next, we went to a small village. The kids there are really poor thing. All of them took a bunch of banana each and were asking people to buy. They were so young! Their average age is 5. Wonder if they have toys. How fortunate to be born in Singapore! Really regretted not buying their coffee. After that, we went of the Golden Prawn seafood restaruant to have lunch. This restaruant is the world's 2nd biggest seafood restaruant! There were fried sotong, chili crab, snails, sweet-sauced fish, vegtables, soup and prawn. Delicious!!!
The most disoppinting time of the day is the shopping mall. Although the DC mall is Batam biggest shopping mall, it's no much better than Singpore's Bras Basah. Bought a few DVD but end up throwing away few coz I don't know that it's illegal to buy DVD overseas. Poor Mel...she bought three packets of bubble gum and ended up giving away all...lost about 750000 rupiah! ********Divergence's nice!!! Daniel Wu so handsome!!!***********
Haha...that's about it...considered quite a cheap holiday with friends. The whole trip spent me only $40. Batam quite a good place to relax...but not a place to have fun. Remeber to have a tour guide when visiting Batam...I think 65% of the place is trees. Eric's not bad!
